Spider-Man’s Sponsorship Deal Goes Wrong

Apparently, even having your own Broadway musical doesn’t help in these recessionary times; the amazing — and somewhat broke, apparently — Spider-Man is going to end up working in McDonalds to make ends meet.

The move will be part of the relaunched Ultimate Comics Spider-Man, which launches this summer. Somewhat spoiling the “Will Peter Parker die?” tease that finishes the current series, news has broken that Peter will be getting fired from his current job at the Daily Bugle as a result of the paper downsizing to save money. Writer Brian Michael Bendis teased the storyline:

The economy is going to hit people like Peter Parker the hardest… Web fluid doesn’t grow on trees, you know.

Things were so much easier when those webspinners were genetic.
