Stan Lee Says Leonardo Dicaprio Says He'd Sure Like to Play Stan Lee in a Movie

I mean, remember that plan Fox has to apparently make a young Stan Lee action comedy movie? It’s not totally out of the realm of reality that at some point in the near future a Hollywood star will don the sunglasses and mustache of one of Marvel’s most iconic creative forces. But Lee himself already has ideas about who could do so.

Speaking at Hascon—toy maker Hasbro’s brand new official convention, as if this story couldn’t get any weirder—Lee was inevitably asked about the idea of someone chronicling his own life on the big screen. According to Lee, he himself has already considered an actor: his neighbor, Leonardo DiCaprio:

Believe it or not, I’ve already discussed it with Leonardo DiCaprio. He’s a neighbor of mine and we were talking one day some months ago, and he said, ‘Boy it’d be fun to do your story on the screen.’ So I said, ‘Well, I’ll audition you.’ Gotta make sure the guy can do it.

That’d be weird if that rumor about him being Warner Bros.’ latest take on the Joker pans out, too.

Now, it must be stressed that this is Lee saying this rather than DiCaprio or someone who could conceivably be planning the Stan Lee Cinematic Universe as we speak. So given his previously-established penchant for saying a lot of things that may not necessarily pan out, you’d do well to be skeptical. But draw a fake mustache on Leonardo DiCaprio and squint at it long enough... and maybe you could see a resemblance?
