Star Wars: Rogue One

A rumor sourced from UK paper The Daily Mail—so going in, don’t take any of this for granted— stipulates that the movie will use advances in current CGI technology to digitally recreate Peter Cushing (who died of cancer in 1994) so the late actor can reprise his role as Grand Moff Tarkin. Here’s the Mail’s undisclosed source on the subject, alleging Tarkin will have a major role in the film:

This is one of the most complex and costly CGI re-creations ever. Cushing is a pivotal plot line as he was the one to create Darth Vader and there’s a whole back story that will come out.

They probably mean to say that he was the one to create the Death Star... But then again, you never know.

Star Trek

While promoting his new comedy series Blunt Talk, Patrick Stewart has said that he’s unlikely to ever reprise his role as Jean-Luc Picard, either in a movie cameo or on TV:

It’s possible. I think it’s unlikely. But it’s possible. The series wrapped over 25 years ago and we’ve got a rather elderly Captain Picard now. So I don’t know. It would be… it could be entertaining.

Nintendo

Legendary video game designer Shigeru Miyamoto says that gaming giant Nintendo is considering returning to Hollywood to make more films based around their gaming properties:

We’ve had, over the years, a number of people who have come to us and said ‘Why don’t we make a movie together—or we make a movie and you make a game and we’ll release them at the same time?’ Because games and movies seem like similar mediums, people’s natural expectation is we want to take our games and turn them into movies… I’ve always felt video games, being an interactive medium, and movies, being a passive medium, mean the two are quite different. As we look more broadly at what is Nintendo’s role as an entertainment company, we’re starting to think more and more about how movies can fit in with that—and we’ll potentially be looking at things like movies in the future.

DC’s Legends of Tomorrow

Speaking to fan site DC Legends TV, Executive Producer Phil Klemmer has confirmed that the recently cast Hawkman will be a regular on the show:

Is Hawkman going to be a regular part of the show?

He is. He absolutely is.

Does that take away from Hawkgirl’s character at all?

It doesn’t, because the way we’ve imagined them is that they’ve obviously been reincarnated through the ages together, but the fact that he remembers their previous lives and she doesn’t… it gives them very much like a Bogie & Bacall sort of [relationship].

It’s like the Geoff Johns comics.

Yeah. Exactly! They’re constantly fighting, and the fact that they’re destined to be in love is something that seems impossible to her. That’s the kind of sentimentality that we really strive to avoid on this show. The fact that they’re going to be together someday, we try desperately at every moment to disprove that, this is going to be the one time that they decide to, like, shoot each other in the face.

Game of Thrones

George R. R. Martin once again discusses the likely scenario that HBO’s adaptation will come to an end before he can finish his A Song of Ice and Fire novels:

The show is moving forward like a locomotive, or sometimes a jet locomotive. They’re writing 60-page scripts, I’m writing 1,500-page novels. So who the hell knows?

There was a period where I was worried about that—Then I said, to hell with that. Worrying about it isn’t going to change it one way or another. I still sit down at the typewriter, and I have to write the next scene and the next sentence… I’m just going to tell my story, and they’re telling their story and adapting my books, and we shall see.

The Flash

Gabrielle Stanton explains how Season 2’s Professor Zoom will differ to the Reverse Flash of season one:

Zoom is going to be very different in terms of motivation, in terms of what he wants from The Flash, in terms of why he’s doing what he’s doing. I know a lot of people are thinking, ‘[Professor Zoom and Reverse Flash] were so similar in the comics. What’s going to make them different?’ I guarantee no one will confuse him for one second with what we did last year. It’s actually much more different than people would think.
