For nearly 15 years, Studio Trigger has given anime fans one treat after another with the likes of Little Witch Academia, Promare, and Cyberpunk: Edgerunners. Anime Expo 2026 is a big weekend for the studio, as it’s got another project in the works, this one creatively headlined by some familiar faces.
During its big panel, the studio teased it’s at work on a fourth flagship title. It’s too early in production to show anything or even name it, but this project will pair director (and studio co-founder) Hiroyuki Imaishi and writer Kazuki Nakashima. That’s a pairing Trigger fans will know quite well: the two famously worked together before on Gurren Lagann, Kill La Kill, and Promare, all three of which are considered “flagship” products for the studio.
Imaishi and Nakashima are back together for this new venture, but any details on what it is and what form it’ll take will have to wait. Studio Trigger’s quite busy this year and next, as it’s got the Netflix-exclusive Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2 hitting this fall, then Delicious in Dungeon season two in October 2027. But hopefully it won’t be too long a wait before we hear what this next thing is.
