Terry Brooks has sold three new installments of his best-selling Shannara series to Del Rey Books. These new books in Brooks’ post-apocalyptic swords and sorcery series will pick up where his High Druid of Shannara trilogy left off.
The most recent book in the Shannara chronology was 2005’s Straken. Brook’s series began in 1977 with The Sword of Shannara, a massive hit that was the first fictional work to crack The New York Times trade paperback bestseller list. Thematically, the series has spanned from urban fantasy of the 1990s Word & Void series to the more straight-up fantasy of the newer Shannara installments.
