The move to Spotify isn’t random: Tesla previously offered in-car streaming through Rdio, who you may remember went abruptly bankrupt last month. But in all honesty, a Spotify tie-in is more than just a stopgap: it’s a serious upgrade for Model S owners.
The feature is coming to Teslas in Europe, Australia and Hong Kong, with a US version promised soon. This isn’t quite a free Premium account, though: Sptofy access will be limited to the car, and drivers will need an account like the rest of us mortals to listen outside.
