The American Horror Story Crossover Is Coming, and It'll Be Even Bigger Than You Think

There’s seemingly nothing Ryan Murphy loves to do more than drop hints about what might happen on American Horror Story. Recently, we heard that Lady Gaga’s witchy Roanoke character would return in the future, and now we have a better idea of what else that future might entail—a big ol’ crossover that makes up an entire season of the show.

At an Entertainment Weekly panel over the weekend, Murphy revealed just a hint (of course) about what he’s planning:

“It’s not going to be next season, but we are going to do a season that’s a crossover between Murder House and Coven together, which is very bizarre... There will be characters from Murder House and characters from Coven together.”

So far, the show’s only been renewed for one more season, so FX will have to sign on for more if Murphy wants to pull off the crossover in a hypothetical season eight, which seems likely to happen.

A crossover makes a lot of sense for American Horror Story, an anthology show that has pulled from the same core group of actors over six seasons. Each season may have a completely unique setting, but viewers can always count on seeing some familiar faces doing completely different things, which is part of the fun of the show, and no doubt a big part of its appeal to the actors, as well.

To that end, Murphy notes that he’s already begun talking to the Murder House and Coven stars about their availability for the project. But naturally that’s all the info he teased. Will the show take place in New Orleans? Los Angeles? Somewhere completely different? Will Lady Gaga’s Roanoke character also make a cameo, due to her Coven connections? Will everybody on the show be a ghost?

Oh, and speaking of Roanoke, Murphy just shared this little nugget.

So.... is Paulson’s British actress Audrey gonna survive the Blood Moon’s hungry cannibals after all? Between the crossover, season seven (still a total mystery), and current season Roanoke flying off the gore-soaked rails for a few more weeks, we have a lot of AHS speculation to look forward to. Or dread.
