If you really, really need to stay connected, you may want to consider this: a wearable, solar-powered, field communications system from NetworkAnatomy called the CommanderPack. The CommanderPack consists of a backpack that comes with a cellphone, a two-way radio, a Tablet PC, a satellite link; a helmet with a built-in video camera, microphone, and “extreme” lighting (whatever that means); and a special waterproof glove that can be used to make phone calls, send email, or transmit video. NetworkAnatomy says the CommanderPack is meant for use in search and rescue operations, fires, and other emergency situations.
