There’s a listing on Microsoft’s website of the five different SPOT, or Smart Personal Object Technology, watches which are supposed to hit stores soon. As you may recall, SPOT uses FM radio subcarrier frequencies to wirelessly deliver information like the weather, news, and stock quotes via a subscription service called MSN Direct.
Anyway, we’re not exactly blown away by the design of any of the watches (and watches these days tend to have be fashion accessories first and useful tools second if they’re going to sell well), but Fossil’s Wrist Net Square (pictured at right) doesn’t look so bad. But that’s almost beside the point, since whether or not anyone will want to pay $10 each month (or $60 for a full year) to have the weather sent to their watch remains to be seen.
