It’s not just you. HBO Now, the app that lets people watch HBO shows as soon as they’re live on broadcast TV, isn’t working. HOW ARE WE SUPPOSED TO WATCH GAME OF THRONES?
About 10 minutes ago my wife and I sat down to watch Game of Thrones on our Apple TV via the HBO Now app. I restarted our router, thinking that maybe it was our garbage internet. But it’s not just us. I took a quick peek at Twitter and boy, are people mad.
What does HBO expect us to do right now? Sit and stare at each other? Talk about things and stuff? This won’t stand. I need to learn what happened with Gandolf’s dragon prince magic staff, or whatever’s going on right now. (I only half-watch Game of Thrones, if we’re being totally honest here.)
Update, 9:45pm: It’s still not working for us here in LA but there are rumors that it’s back up for some people on the East Coast. For now, we wait.
Update, 9:50pm: It took about 43 minutes, but HBO has acknowledged that there’s a problem.
Update, 9:52pm: Seriously, what did people used to do with their Sunday nights in the olden times? Play Bridge? Is that a thing? I honestly don’t know if I’m supposed to capitalize that or not. Play bridge? I think it involves cards. Or cars. I don’t know. WHERE’S GAME OF THRONES?
Update, 9:56pm: My wife sits in the corner clutching a rucksack that we used to call our earthquake go-bag. It’s our life now. We’ve already made it through most of the rations and we’ve forgotten the faces of our loved ones abroad. If this message should reach any of them, tell them we love them.
Update, 9:57pm: Apparently HBO Now is back up for us. May God have mercy on our souls for the unspeakable acts we committed during the Great HBO Now Outage of 2016. Let us never speak of this time again.
