She’s a successful, award-winning author; he’s an ambitious but struggling scientist. These dynamics flip upside down when the husband accidentally zaps his wife with his latest invention, a biotech riff on a shrink ray whose power he doesn’t quite understand—including how to reverse its effects.
That’s the premise for Peacock’s The Miniature Wife, which feels a little heavy-handed until you consider the talents involved: Elizabeth Banks and Matthew Macfadyen. With these two aboard, charm will clearly outweigh any heavy-handed metaphors about the balance of power between couples—though there’ll surely be plenty of those too.

Banks and Macfadyen also executive produce The Miniature Wife, which, according to a Peacock press release, is based on Manuel Gonzalez’s short story and is “a high-concept marital dramedy examining the power (im)balances between spouses, Lindy and Les, who battle each other for supremacy after a technological accident induces the ultimate relationship crisis.”
