The Monsters Sequel Dark Continent Does Not Look Particularly Subtle

Set 10 years after the first movie, the monsters of Monsters: Dark Continent has spread around the world, and the Army has been deployed to contain them. The sequel examines a group of soldiers stationed in the Middle East, who… oh, okay, I see what’s going on there.

I’m not trying to present a value judgment of the movie; it could be great, it could be bad, it could be merely okay. But I will hypothesize that the movie might just be drawing a parallel or two between American soldiers in the Middle East forced to battle an implacable, foreign foe in a war that seemingly has no definable end and certain current political and combat situations. Just a hunch, tho’.

Monsters: Dark Continent has no American release date yet, so we won’t know for sure for the foreseeable future. Anyone want to bet against me?
