In the latest promo for the Jem and the Holograms movie, Universal has released what amounts to a music video for the film’s original song “Youngblood.” And it’s... okay.

Let’s be fair here: the songs in the 1980s cartoon weren’t exactly solid gold. Compared to “classic” Jem songs like “Music Is Magic,” this is Grammy material. But there must be a closer modern equivalent to Jem’s glam synth-pop than the kind of Taylor Swift lite you hear on all movie soundtracks aimed at female Millennials. Heck, Jem could take a cue from her diva gown above and go the Lady Gaga route.
