In my opinion, the most jarringly inexplicable scene in The Shining is when Shelley Duvall stumbles upon a well-groomed man receiving fellatio from a silent individual wearing what resembles a bootleg Scooby Doo costume.
This sequence has now become the subject of history’s most comically left-field New York Times correction. Yes, it’s stranger than that Brony one.

An earlier version of this article incorrectly described imagery from “The Shining.” The gentleman seen with the weird guy in the bear suit is wearing a tuxedo, but not a top hat.
I wonder who was the first reader to pen an angry letter about this minutia. After all, I imagine that scene is tantamount to the Magna Carta for fursuit enthusiasts.
