Sony officially launched the PSX — a new version of its PlayStation 2 with a hard drive, a TV tuner, and a DVD burner — today. There will actually be two versions of the PSX, the DESR-5000, with a 160GB hard drive, and the DESR-7000, which will have a 250GB hard drive. Both will also have software for recording TV shows like a TiVo, Memory Stick slots for viewing digital photos, and a USB port for connecting Sony digital cameras and USB game controllers. Should be out in Japan by the end of the year, with a US release expected sometime in early 2004.
