If you were dreading The Shining prequel, we have good news for you! Mark Romanek of Never Let Me Go, One Hour Photo and the brilliant but never aired Locke & Key pilot will be directing it. If it’s going to get made, we’re glad it’s with him.

Variety is reporting that Romanek will direct The Overlook Hotel, which was penned by Walking Dead showrunner Glen Mazzara based on Stephen King’s original prologue in his novel (which was cut before it was published in the ’70s). The movie centers around the original history of the haunted hotel from the POV of Bob T. Watson (the original owner). Before we were a bit nervous, but now let’s label our feelings as cautiously optimistic?
