This is either the best idea on the planet, or the absolute worst thing ever: The folks behind the Matilda Broadway play are developing a brand new Groundhog Day musical based on the wonderful film. Ned Ryerson solo or bust.
THR is reporting that Matilda composer Tim Minchin has actually teamed up with real-life Groundhog Day screenwriter Danny Rubin to develop the movie into a musical. The fact that these two are working together, not just co-opting a character and distorting it into your own image *cough cough Spider-Man nusical* gives us hope. Fingers crossed, but seriously, give me a Ned Ryerson song or I’m out. “Bing!”
