Hundreds of thousands of historical buildings have been destroyed by natural or human-caused disasters, which is why an organization called CyArk is scanning ancient landmarks all over the world in 3D. If someday something bad happens to them, we will be able to fix them with millimetric precision.
Or at least have a digital copy to remember them by.
