We’ve known since San Diego Comic-Con that Kurt Russell is playing Ego the Living Planet, but we haven’t actually seen a snippet of him in any of the big trailers we’ve had for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2. So yes, for now, your best look at him will have to be as part of this new action figure two-pack revealed at Toy Fair today.
Part of Hasbro’s 6" Marvel Legends series, the father/son duo will be released exclusively through Entertainment Earth initially this summer. Although Hasbro’s new version of Star-Lord (who looks way more like Chris Pratt than their figure from the first movie) will be available in their wider range of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 figures, this pack will be the only way to get an action figure of the majestically bearded Russell as Ego.
Although Marvel have yet to actually explain why Kurt Russell is wandering around looking like space Jesus instead of, you know, being a living planet—I’m not gonna complain about being able to get a Kurt Russell as space Jesus action figure. Plus, the figures will come with alternate heads—Star-Lord is getting a helmeted version (as well as his trusty element blasters), and Ego has a bonus face that’s slightly more annoyed than his default.
The Star-Lord and Ego two pack is now available to pre-order from Entertainment Earth for $40, ahead of its release in August.
