NASA’s Dawn spacecraft has spent a month in the shadow of Ceres. But now, the highest resolution images of the dwarf planet to date reveal its north pole.

The images, acquired by NASA on April 10th, were captured from a distance of 21,000 miles above the surface of the planet. While future images will show the surface in more detail, as the spacecraft edges every closer to the ball of rock, these are the best views yet. And they’re certainly better than the ones we saw back in January. [NASA]
