Latency on your phone is annoying. But Google feels your pain—which is why it has this dedicated robotic rig, used to test out hardware and software in order to keep Android and Chrome OS devices zippy.
Known as the Chrome TouchBot, it was built by the Finish company OptoFidelity especially for Google. Using high-speed video cameras and robotic fingers, the system runs a series of web-based tests—which you play with yourself—in order to measure how much lag a device has. The results are then used to refine software and hardware, in order to make Android and Chrome OS devices as nimble as possible.
