Time Warner is now offering a new, affordable plan that lets you get HBO and about 20 channels for just $30/month for the first year. Great news for anyone who doesn’t want to be saddled with 70 channels they’re never watching.
TWC’s new offering includes all your local broadcasters, in addition to your C-SPANs, shopping channels, and shopNBC. This follows last month’s move from Comcast to offer HBO and 25Mbps internet for $40 or $50 a month depending on your market.
Hopefully this is evidence of a larger trend. Although real a la carte cable is probably still somewhat of a pipe dream, HBO for 30 bucks a month is a good start. [Time Warner via Variety]
