Toshiba Gigabeat with ‘Perpendicular’ Storage: Thin as a Dance Panda

So when Toshiba was telling us to “Get Perpendicular” to describe their new hard disc storage technique, we didn’t quite realize they were going to be getting something to the market using the technology so soon. The newest models of the Gigabeat F-series MP3 players use the new technique, which means two things: now they can get 40GB of storage onto a single-plattered hard drive, for a really thin profile; otherwise shy pandas turn into rocking furry sex balls when you plug in their guitars (and really, who doesn’t?)

The new models will likely make their way to Europe and America in time, but will also likely command the same price premium that keeps Gigabeat players out of the ears of the common man.
