How can you tell the difference between a serious technology concept and an art project posing as one? Well, let’s take a look at HeHe France’s “train” project. They propose setting up personal transporters on unused light rail tracks in cities. Sounds good so far.
But take a look at this picture. Can you really imagine legions of black-clad, artsy Frenchmen zipping around like little yogis on abandoned train tracks? Sure, it might look like fun, but a stiff breeze would send Pierre right to the pavement. The sheer number of practical and safety issues raised by this concept puts it squarely in the “art” column. But hey, that’s not to say it isn’t a neat idea. Keep on keepin’ on, artsy Frenchmen.
