tunA is an MIT Media Lab Europe experiment in ad-hoc social radio, allowing clusters of portable music listeners to share the same peer-to-peer audio stream. Currently being developed on iPaqs via 802.11b, tunA is not a system to trade songs remotely (although that would be nice, too) but instead is designed to encourage participants to share in the same songs at the same time. Although the chances of real-world interaction might be remote, meeting people by listening to their micro-radio station sounds like an entirely pleasurable experience. [Thanks, Fredric!]
