You can launch pretty much any iPhone app on the iPad. If it's not a universal app, it'll look all pixelated and ugly and you'll wonder why the developer hasn't gotten around to making an iPad version of the app. Maybe the developer's happy with just an iPhone app. Maybe they'll rush an iPad app into the store and it won't take full advantage of the iPad's capabilities. Or, maybe they'll create an app that's worth the wait. Tweetbot for iPad is the last one.
What does it do?
Tweetbot is a customizable Twitter app. Set which navigation tabs are available along the side of the timeline. The app features swipe gestures for quick replies, to see replies to a tweet, to see the conversation a tweet is part of, and shortcuts to Favstar. The app also includes support for services like Read it Later, Instapaper, and a variety of image services.
Why do we like it?
The app is the most aggressively designed Twitter app on the planet. It squeezes every last feature it can out of the service while continuing to present a clean interface that's easy to use. I can customize the app how I like and quickly, tweet, retweet, and reply to tweets. Or, just use it as is and still enjoy the same rewarding experience. Considering how much I tweet (it's a lot), Tweetbot's rich feature set and UI has made it my go-to Twitter client. I just wish it hadn't taken so long for the iPad version to be released.
If you're already a Tweetbot for iPhone user, Tweetbot 2.0 for iPhone is available now as a free update.
