The short film Pink Moon belongs to a genre of LGBT cinema set in alternate universes where same-sex relationships are the norm and heterosexuals are subject to bullying and prejudice. But this short adds a twist to that concept: abortion is illegal and one of our lead characters has just discovered she’s pregnant.

Sal Bardo directed Pink Moon and he’s made two other short films about people coping with alienation and prejudice: Chaser and Sam. In Pink Moon, the teenaged characters must deal with the expectations of those around them — of peers and of parents — and the decisions they make when they thwart those expectations.
