The V/H/S anthology horror series continues its theme era with V/H/S/Mixtape, this time applying its found-footage frights to the world of music. As you might guess, this means several of the creators this time around have strong musical ties, including RZA and Flying Lotus. The film will also feature a special appearance by splatter-loving metal band Gwar.

Other segments come from Ernest Dickerson—an acclaimed cinematographer known for his work with Spike Lee but also a director in his own right with films like Juice and Bones and dozens of TV episodes, including The Walking Dead and The Wire—and David Moreau, who made the bonkers one-shot zombie movie Mads.

Also, filmmaker Renee Zhan will have an entry featuring original puppets by Jim Henson’s Creature Shop, a first for the V/H/S series. There’s also a music video by debut filmmaker Tobias Forge, best known as the ominous Pope-esque frontman of Swedish metal band Ghost.

The V/H/S series has been around since 2012 but has found new creative energy with its current home on horror streaming platform Shudder. After a trio of films set in specific years (’95, ’99, and ’85), we got sci-fi entry V/H/S/Beyond in 2024, and last year brought V/H/S/Halloween. Halloween became “the most-watched exclusive film premiere of 2025 for Shudder and AMC+,” which bodes very well for this next installment.

V/H/S/Mixtape hits Shudder in peak spooky season, arriving October 9. Will you be checking it out?
