What if Jason Voorhees of the Friday the 13th franchise or Michael Myers of Halloween weren’t just masked killers who never talk but do a lot of killing? What if the movies they starred in were also told entirely from their point of view? That’s the concept behind 2024 indie hit In a Violent Nature, which did the near-impossible by finding a new angle on the well-worn slasher genre. Now we know when the sequel, announced not long after the first film’s release, will be arriving in theaters.

In a Violent Nature: Part 2 will open on February 12, 2027, as was announced today at Shudder’s New York Comic Con panel. Some fans have already gotten to see it, thanks to its premiere at the recent Fantastic Fest.

“In Part 2, Johnny’s violent rampage leads him to a summer camp just as a young, outcast camper is forced to spend the night with his counselor sister and her friends at their annual end-of-season party,” reads a press release from IFC Films and Shudder. Taken alongside Teenage Sex and Death at Camp Miasma and Peacock’s Crystal Lake, it would certainly seem that summer camps are once again ground zero for splatter fiends.

“Part 2 picks up immediately where the first film ends, as Johnny finds a new batch of victims, and expands on the killer’s lore, while pushing the possibilities of extreme kills even further,” the release continues.

In a Violent Nature: Part 2 comes from co-directors Nate Wilson and Chris Nash, who was writer-director on In a Violent Nature and also wrote the screenplay for the sequel. Ry Barrett returns to star as Johnny.
