Watch the right engine of this Airbus A330 exploding as it was about to take off from Manchester Airport, UK, en route to Dominican Republic. Fortunately, the pilot was able to stop the plane and nobody was injured.

It’s worth noting that any commercial jetliner is designed and tested to take off and fly with just half of its engines (in this case one) if necessary. Obviously, it’s not recommended, which is why the pilot stopped the plane before taking off. But if this had happened after the plane had passed its point of no return, the plane would have been able to take off safely, go around, and land again.
