With all the cache of a street-corner Bolex, British developer Starbrite has developed a way to give your clunky PocketPC the looks of Apple’s crown jewel, the iPod. Dubbed ‘pPod’, the software emulates the trademark interface of the iPod, allowing users to use the touch screen of their PDAs to play MP3s — but notably not AAC, the preferred format of the iPod and iTunes Music Store. Selling a ‘virtual iPod’ might be skirting the edge of disaster: Apple has been known to send a gaggle of lawyers after those who infringe upon its product-defining cool.
Better get it while it’s sort of hot.
