Volkswagen has finally announced its plans for Apple's CarPlay and Google's Android Auto. Both will work with the company's MIB II dash electronics, and will be available in the U.S. later this year.

This is good! So, while looking at used cars, I realized that a lot of 2005-2010 era cars are the worst if you want to use a smartphone in your car as its primary infotainment device. They often only come with a CD slot and nothing else. No aux cable in, no tape deck for adapters, no bluetooth, no USB port... I guess you can get an aftermarket head unit, but that costs money...

At least new cars will have something that'll work with 90+% of all smartphones.
