Voomote One: The Mr. Potato Head of Universal iPhone Remotes

Illustration for article titled Voomote One: The Mr. Potato Head of Universal iPhone Remotes

Universal remotes for your iPhone are old news, but the thing about them is that they're so, well, universal: You use the same layout for all your devices. The Voomote One lets you have a different remote for your TV than your stereo.

The layouts are grouped into profiles, so you can make a group for a room with your TV, DVR, etc., and a separate one for just fine-tuning your stereo. You can also macro multi-device commands, to turn off your whole house at once, or maybe just your roommate's stuff. [Engadget]

Is it possible to hook up an IR led to the headphone out and an IR photo-resistor to the mic in, it would be much more simple and way cheaper than this bulky thing.
