Star Wars: The Force Awakens

Making Star Wars are reporting that John Williams will record part of the movie’s score in Los Angeles next month.

Ryan Reynolds discusses what sets the movie apart from the X-Men films, and whether or not Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine could make a cameo appearance:

Are you more involved in the overall production than you might have been if it was made straight after X-Men Origins?

I’m intimately involved, only because this movie doesn’t have the budget that those X-Men movies had; this is, comparatively speaking, a very small film. We have to make the most out of every dollar that we’re putting on screen. So you get involved in all sorts of things that you would never have otherwise gotten involved in, right down to what colour the walls are at the back of the set.

Is your old mate Wolverine — aka Hugh Jackman — going to pop up in Deadpool?

God I hope so, that would be really nice. I dunno, we’ll see. It seems like he’s open to it, but it’s gonna be more of a scheduling issue than anything else.

X-Men Apocalypse

A piece of concept art from the movie featured in the latest issue of Empire Magazine offers a brief look at Cyclops and Jean Grey’s uniforms:

Game Of Thrones

Casting calls have gone out for a vast variety of roles for the show’s sixth season, but according to Watchers on the Wall three stand out as potential descriptions for three characters from the novels: Euron Greyjoy, successor to Balon as ruler of the Iron Islands, Randyll Tarly, the abusive father of Samwell, and Septon Meribald, a religious man Brienne and Podrick meet during their travels through the Riverlands. Here’s the three descriptions:

Pirate, man in his 40’s to late 50’s. He’s “an infamous pirate who has terrorized seas all around the world”. Cunning, ruthless, with a touch of madness.

Father. Aged 50’s to 60’s, he’s one of the greatest soldiers in Westeros- a humorless martinet, severe and intimidating. He demands martial discipline in the field and in his home. It’s described as “a very good part” for next year and that he’s “centrally involved” in a protagonist’s storyline.

Priest, in his 40’s or 50’s. A gruff ex-soldier who found religion. Now a no-nonsense rural priest who ministers to the poor of the countryside. He’s salt-of-the-earth man who has weathered many battles.

Doctor Who

Alex Kingston says she’s not heard anything about the role of River Song coming to an end:

Speaking at Mega-con earlier this month, Kingston commented: “All I can say is… spoilers! But what I will say is the sonic screwdriver that I had in ‘Silence in the Library’, which had been given to me by the Doctor, is not the sonic screwdriver that has been seen… yet.”

The Arrow actress added: “I haven’t been told I’m done [on Doctor Who].

However, Steven Moffat recently added that River’s time on the series is probably over:

It entirely depends on whether we’ve got a good story. It’s certainly not ruled out. I have a sort of worry about keeping anybody around in the Doctor’s life for too long. Because he’s the Man who Leaves. He’s the man who outlives everybody: that’s his story. In the end it’s the boy in his box, and he’s alone. In the end if we had a great story, we’d do it.

I mentioned in passing to Russell that we were probably done with River. He said, ‘You can’t be done with River! No, no, no. Capaldi and Kingston, it’s a sex storm!’

Star Wars Rebels

Gary Whitta has revealed he will script an episode for the second season. [via /Film]

David Duchovny discusses his reaction to the first script for the returning series:

I got the first script this morning, I just read it about an hour ago and I started crying reading the first page. It was just so strange to see the names on the page. It had nothing to do with the script itself. It was just like, I’d been talking about this for a long time. We’d been planning it for a long time. It took a long time to get all the people in the same place and get the deal with Fox. So let’s say two years we’ve been talking about doing it. Now it’s the fun part. Now we actually get to do it. That was nice and strangely emotional for me, and I’ll have to figure out how to use that [in the performance].

The actor also says he’d be open to doing more than six new episodes:

I would be open to doing another cycle. I don’t know that I could do a 20-episode version of this show at this point in my life, and I don’t know that Gillian could. But I think everybody is open ended on what happens after this. Certainly, we didn’t bring it back with the idea of ending it.

American Horror Story: Hotel

Vanity Fair has a roundup of information for the new season, adding several updates on who may or may not return to the show’s cast:

Regular American Horror Story player Emma Roberts is busy with Murphy’s other pulpy project Scream Queens but has said she thinks she’ll be joining Season 5 “at the end.” Another regular, Denis O’Hare, says he hasn’t officially been asked back yet, but that he signed a two-year contract last season so could be called up at any moment. American Horror Story favorite Frances Conroy will likely be too busy with Jason Reitman’s new series to join in the fun for Season 5 and there’s no word yet on Lily Rabe—though she hasn’t said no—but if she came back to the American Horror Story fold, I’ve no doubt she’d bring her dancing moves.
