Poor CBS. Just when they thought they’d gotten around the sticky problem of adding a bleep-ably titled show to their lineup, it turns out that the cure might be worse than the disease. Turns out most DVRs don’t know $#*!.

Here’s the issue: by replacing the not-ready-for-prime-time language of <Shit My Dad Says with symbols, CBS made it incompatible with many DVR search tools that only recognize alpha-numerics. Obviously, if you want to record the show—which is highly debatable—you can still do so through the program guide. But if you’re hunting for William Shatner saying ridiculous things in a hunting vest, you’re better off searching for T.J. Hooker reruns. [NY Times via SplitSider]
