Before Hugh Jackman donned the adamantium claws as everyone’s favorite mutant Wolverine, there were a few other Aussies up for the gig. Including one Mel Gibson — and here’s concept art showing what Wolverine could have looked like.
Three years before Bryan Singer’s first X-Men movie Gibson was in the lead to play Logan. This was 1997, right after Braveheart and Ransom at the height of Gibson’s popularity. Today, the idea of Gibson as replacement Hugh Jackman sounds insane, but now we have the original concept art to help visualize the Wolverine that could have been.
Will McCrabb revealed the art from artist Miles Teves — and it is INSANE. Just look at it!
