Wildseed, which we last heard about after their recent falling out with Kyocera, is back. What Wildseed makes are swappable “Smart Skin” faceplates for cellphones with up to 64MB of memory that can include new graphics, ringtones, and games in them. The phones are aimed at the teen market, and the idea is that you can customize the inside as well as the outside of your handset just by changing the faceplate. Kyocera was originally supposed to a produce a Smart Skin-compatible phone called the Kurv, but late last year killed off the whole thing for unspecified reasons. Now Wildseed is back and have convinced Curitel to build a new phone for them called the Identity. The phone, which has a built-in digital camera and the unusual placement of its screen below the keypad, should cost between $150 to $200, while new Smart Skins should run between $25 and $60.
