Just when we thought the browser popularity contest had finally been settled (Chrome, the victor), a new browser tool has arrived on the scene. Its name is Axis, it is a product of Yahoo, and—surprisingly—it does not suck. In fact, it's actually kinda cool.
The main novelty, so far as I can tell, is its expedited search/result process. Rather than present you with a list of links to weed through, with Axis, pressing 'Enter' brings you directly to the page/s—or rather, the page/s straight to you.
There are versions for both iPad and iPhone, and extensions/plug-ins for the desktop browsers Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer, and Safari.
There is one thing about Axis, though, that may be a deal-breaker for me and my colleagues. Axis's search bar appears in the lower left-hand corner of the page, completely covering the 'Save' and 'Preview' buttons in our CMS and rendering it impossible to save a post. At this point, it doesn't look like the search-bar location is customizable, though further investigation may prove otherwise (Work functionality aside, it's still a great option for mobile browsing.) I'll update if anything changes.
