If this PJP-100H conference call system works as well as Yamaha says it does, the company may have figured out a way to finally make conference calling much less annoying. The sophisticated system has 12 speakers and 32 directional microphones which use a learning function to analyze the environment, figuring out how to filter out just the echoes, leaving voices intact. Using this technique, the company says it has eliminated the lags and cutoffs that plague conference calls.
Too bad the thing costs $2500. The first samples will be shipping in April, and then in May, Yamaha will release the PJP-100UH, a similar product which connects via USB and is slightly cheaper at $2125.
