Businessweek has a deep profile of Samsung detailing the company's rise to the number one smartphone manufacturer in the world. The article appears to confirm what we've been expecting all along: that a smaller cheaper version of the Galaxy S 4 will arrive on the heels of the big S 4 next month.

Rumors of the S 4 Mini have been circulating for since before the official announcement of the regular-sized one, with the rumblings picking up steam over the last week. It makes sense, since, you know, there was a Galaxy S III Mini. But the author of the Businessweek piece, who had very good access to Samsung for his story, appears to have revealed information that the company hasn't yet made public. Near the end of the article it appears he's familiar with Samsung's plans:

The Galaxy S 4 doesn't come out until late April. It's fast, has a big, bright screen, and will probably be another huge hit for Samsung, as will the S 4 mini that will go on sale soon after.

Is that an accidental leak? Does Businessweek know something we don't? We'll have to wait and see, but it certainly makes sense. Oh, and make sure to check out the whole BW story. It's a great read. [Businessweek]

I've not been keeping up but I thought one of the selling points of Samsung S phones was that they were bigger?
