What do you do when you've got a platform (PS3) that's a fantastic media playback machine but lacks games? You bring games TO IT. StreamMyGame allows you to stream the visuals and sound directly from your PC onto your PS3 at up to 3200x2400 resolution (PS3 only supports 1080p), supporting Windows XP, Vista, and DirectX 8-10. All the rendering's done on the PC, so you don't have to worry about the fact that current Linux implementations on the PS3 don't have full access to the console's hardware. The upside? A gigantic library of games in your living room. [StreamMyGame via MaxConsole via Kotaku]

SWEET! I wonder does this work on the 360 as well?
why would you ever want this? Wouldnt a video out work just as well?
This seems kinda silly.
just checked out the website... this program IS useless! I thought after posting it would be cool to control the game from your PS3... doesnt look like it can (from what Ive read)
Sounds like a bad idea... I mean cmon streaming video (at HD) over your broadband connection (most likely aroud 70kb up?) sounds like low FPS...
@teqsun.com: Clearly you've never had the unbridles joy of streaming gears of war from your pc, to your ps3 to your xbox, to a dreamcast, down into a modded sega genesis, out remotely to a game boy DS, then back to you 52 inch flatscreen t.v.
Let me tell you, it's amazing.
In an unrelated story, I nad 130% of my brain removed in a mountain climbing accident.
@Pope John Peeps II:
YOUVE GOT A MODDED SEGA GENESIS?! I WANT ONE OF THOSE SO BAD!
So unless you can connect your keyboard and mouse to your PS3, this seems pretty pointless.
@teqsun.com: Umm...I think you misunderstand the relationship between this and your broadband connection. I'm pretty sure that if the PS3 and the computer are in your house, on your own network, your broadband connection won't matter at all.
In fact, your computer could be connected to the oustide world via Dial Up as long as you've also got it hooked up to a wired or wireless router which also connects to the PS3. In that case, you could very well have a true 10, 100, or 1000 Mbps network in your house.
I'm not saying that this is a great product, mind-you -- If I understand correctly, it seems like you'd be using your PS3 controllers to control the game, and the PS3 has to talk to the computer over your LAN, and then the computer sends the image back to your PS3 over the LAN, and the PS3 sends the image to the TV. I already hear people talking about "lag" just connecting a PC or console directly to an LCD TV -- I don't imagine all that talk over the network, video conversion, etc. will help things out much.
@wjousts:
Where the hell have you been? Sony had Mouse and keyboard support since the PS2.
@wjousts: You can.
@ssjmichael:
Scratch that, I thought you were speaking in general terms. Didn't realize this particular settup lacked kb/mouse support. I don't see why it doesn't though..
OR!!! and this is just an idea... You can connect your pc directly to your tv... Since your still playing on the pc and the image is just being routed through your PS3 into the tv...
This article is a waste
Ill stick with my 360 and the ton of games it has.
gigabit wireless, huh?
yeah, good luck with that shit.
@monstergoc: I agree, and this is pretty dumb, you can basically do the same thing with a DVI-to HDMI cable...
Look guys, take time to read it and check out the videos. There seems to be zero lag, as you are streaming over your home network. Connect a wireless keyboard and mouse or USB K&M. Also, unless your computer is a sweet laptop, like my 2.4 C2D, 4GB MacBook Pro, then your desktop better be right next to your TV, or have a long HDMI to DVI cable to pull this off. It is just a nice technological feat that they have done. Just leave it at that.
@crazysamz:
Or most TV's these days do have a VGA port.
Wow, the irony... so basically, every decent 360 games (which usually comes to the PS3) will be playable on the PS3? Sweet
Hay I got an idea. How about you just spend some money and buy a freaking 360.
Do you guys understand that this thing brings PC games to your ps3 NOT 360 games. Its just a cool thing for people that have their computer in a different part of their house then where their tv is.
@gamecrazychris:
Uh yeah...... but MOST PC games do come to the 360 and vice versa.
I'd like to see a monitor play a graphic intensive game at 3200x2400.
So you stream it from your PC to your PS3 and use a wireless 360 remote to play it? That would be funny!
....but will the ps3 blend?
Some people rather play FPS games on a PC than a 360... and this might be good news for those WoW fanatics out there.
This cr@p is like shoelaces that don't keep your foot in your shoe.
but, wait a minute, so, when playing the game, you use the PS3 hardware or the PC hardware to render and run the game, or juts use the PS3 as a port to play the game on the tv???
That seems kinda useless, instead i'd connect my TV using a Super Video cable or HDMI one
One word. CRYSIS.
