Just like WMWifiRouter did for 3G Windows Mobile phones, JoikuSpot allows 3G S60 Nokia phones to act like a Wi-Fi hotspot for other devices. The principle is the same: a 3G connection comes in, goes through the phone, and out to your iPhone or laptop (through Wi-Fi) so you can access 3G on the go. However, JoikuSpot only supports HTTP and HTTPS, so Outlook, Skype and BitTorrent may not work (maybe not even some types of VPN). May want to poke around for more info before you rely on this for work on the go. [Joiku via IntoMobile]

3G iPhone in title does not make sense. Why would anyone buy an S60 just to make an iPhone 3G? Though, it's great for people already having S60 and wanting to transfer that to their laptop. Also makes great sense for someone having S60 and iPod Touch.
if it supports http and https, then it would work for outlook anywhere, or the rpc (or whatever) or http protocol for remote exchange server access.
@doofusgumby: "or http" = "OVER http"
well i dont have a data plan, but i would love to be able to connect my laptops together while on the go, simply for lan-style communications.
I'd also like to use my phone as a "modem" but instead of using the data plan use the wifi chip in the phone. I have a mobile computer that doesn't have wifi (not a laptop)
seriously?
this has dick to do with a 3g iphone. why not name it..
3g: PS3
3g: laptop
3g: nokia tablet
3g: fucking anything with a wireless antennae
Anyone know if you can turn an iPod Touch into a hotspot and/or repeater?
and then you learn ssh & ssh port forwarding, making http and https enough for everything (yes, bittorrent, Jabber / XMPP, IMAP/IMAP+SSL, POP, heck, I mean *everything*).
funny. today i was thinking about how cool it would be if i could get a phone that turned the 3G signal into WiFi to use with my touch. and, for that matter, reformat my text messages to show up on my touch and look like iChat convos.
except a gutted-out and slimmed-down pininfarina i836 nextel would have been my preferred look for this, not a generic S60 candybar. oh well, i guess all the people who actually have pull with phone companies like candybars better.
works with the ipod Touch confirmed!
@sansovino: Naw, you actually have to install S60 into it ;)
