Something big is coming to Macs, and it’s going to be a real “Pro” kind of laptop. The next big Apple showcase in a season utterly inundated in Apple releases will likely bring us all new MacBooks, iPads, all-in-one computers, and possibly even more gadgets. Get ready for Apple to add more pretty OLED touchscreens where they haven’t been before.
What could this mean? Well, the swipey nature of the thing seems to hint it has something about a touchscreen going on. iPads? Probably. Touchscreen Macs? Let's hope. pic.twitter.com/l34nvMgxuu

Invites have arrived for the Apple “Pro and Tell” event taking place Oct. 28 in Los Angeles, California. The official icon for the event includes ye-old Apple logo swiping across the screen. As tech reporters, we’ve spent several agonizingly long years speculating about a “touchscreen OLED MacBoook.” This seems to fit the bill. As for this Mac’s supposed name, we’ve heard “MacBook Ultra” get thrown around, but it seems Apple won’t leave the “Pro” alone for what could be its most premium laptop ever.
Apple may also have more in store. Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman has been talking up new, slightly redesigned OLED iPad minis and revised iMacs. The new version may not be a revolution compared to the 2024 8-inch iPad mini, though a new screen may give a more premium—or dare I say “Pro”—feel. There may be more devices we haven’t anticipated, so you should be certain to join us here while we cover all the happenings for Apple’s latest laptop and tablet launches.

As for the iMac, we can certainly hope that Apple will finally launch a true next-gen update for its all-in-one computers. We’ve seen some rumors stemming from well-regarded Korean outlets that Apple may source LG’s penta-tandem OLED displays for the next 27-inch iMac, perhaps with a new “Pro” moniker to differentiate them from older computers. It may be a blind hope, but we can dream. Either way, Gurman has suggested the next iMac and a new 14-inch MacBook Pro could both use the same M6 chip found in the recent, powerful, and pricey Mac mini. Knowing the state of memory prices, you should ready yourself for the inevitable sticker shock of these next-gen iPads and Macs
The only thing we know for sure is “Techtober” ain’t over yet.
