We've got Mattel's entire line of Batman and Speed Racer cars for 2008, and we hope the movies are as geekgasmic as the toys. The Batman lineup punches all of my little fanboy buttons—not only the entire squadron from The Dark Knight, but the two best Batmobiles ever: from the animated series AND Adam Batwest. Speed Racer's got the Mach 5, its sleeker, zippier successor the Mach 6, plus a battle bus! Check out every one in detail after the jump, then tell us who has the most wonderful toys.

The Batman Begins Tumbler tank is the best batmobile ever. It's not pretty, but it kicks ass, and makes the others look like cheap eccentric party favors by comparison.
Mattel's take on the model is lackluster. The details are poor, the canopy is poorly constructed (and also lacks window panes), and the proportions are classic Mattel distorted. If only AutoArt, Kyosho, Minichamps or even Maisto would release one, it would be way better. :(
I bet the women are always impressed when you show them your toy collection.
@Kaiser-Machead: I guess I shouldn't be too hard on that model though, because it is only $30 retail.
@tutelary: My girlfriend actually supports my obsession with 1:18 scale model car collecting. She collects vintage teddy bears, so I guess we're even.
WTF?! Where is the Tim Burton Batmobile?!?!
@The_Duck: Wow I didn't even notice. Mattel's been making that one well before they made the Tumbler.
I'll take the Batman Begins Batmobile RC car version please.
Batman is obviously going to win.Im to young to know what a Speedracer is.
The Tumbler is cool, but only a "recon element" compared to the Batmobile in The Dark Knight Returns by Frank Miller. He visioned it as a huge tank, like the size of an Olympic sized swimming pool.
...though maybe a little too difficult to park.
Batman simply because there is no monkey involved, haha
@Lavallee017: Everything is better with a monkey...
Label this one "No Contest."
@Xavoc: I'll take your word for it...and on second thought I guess a monkey would be a better sidekick than Robin, until he turned into Nightwing. and then he would be better than the monkey.
Batman as his heart aches with pain from the guilt of killing his parents and the ensuing loneliness and isolation from humanity as a whole -- including women-- fills the void with giant, glistening penis cars.
Speed Racer just likes penis cars.. and possibly that stupid monkey.
@shiftyeyedgoat: Technically, the chimpanzee is not Speed Racer's sidekick, but that stupid kid's.
I absolutely love the original animated Batmobile. Tumbler is great too, but I am missing the Tim Burton Batmobile. /cry
Animated Batmobile, no contest, end of story. Thing looks like someone designed a car to resemble a tombstone, what's more badass than that?
Speed Racer- if only because the Mach 6 looks like one of my childhood fantasies. The sort of car you imagine yourself driving while racing the neighborhood kids on bikes around the block, the loop being an "Indianapolis" in your mind.
@newgalactic: Agreed. Miller's bat tank = GIVE ME THE KEYS YOU FACKINGCOCKSUCKAMOTHAFUCKAAUGHAUGHAUGH!!!
I must admit that I mainly voted for Batman because he's American. Speed just reminded me too much of a spoiled brat who's daddy took care of everything... that and the little monkey kinda pissed me off.
So difficult to decide.....
batman forever!
@Lavallee017: Robin turned into Darkwing Duck?
I am the terror that flaps in the night, I am a special news bulletin that interrupts your favorite show.
@jibbly: 1,000 points for the Usual Suspects reference.
OMG THIS IS NOT RIGHT!!! Seriously i had the Tim Burton one in mind when i clicked this link and I'm still looking for it. Btw a classic line from an Adam West Batman film that was on recently:
Batman (In a crowded office meeting room): Robin, we shall escape inconspicously; out of the window...
um this is not really up for debate. Its defiantly batman. he would grappling hook speed racer in the face.
Best Batmobiles ever:
1. Burtonmobile
2. Tumbler
3. Adam West
batman FTW
but where is the model of the original batmobile, you know, the vintage rolls from the 40's movie serials?
the tumbler pwns every form of transportation ever concieved.
I'm on the preorder list for The 1966 Batmobile Elite. But need to know who makes/sells the Batcycle?
of course, the batmobile from the animated series is the best.
@Gormania: I know, I feel your pain. But the Joel Schumaucher cars aren't there which is an equal blessing.
@manguero: Agreed. It looks like it could bore through 100 feet of concrete like a bunkerbuster bomb.
@Xavoc: hahaha, i forgot all about darkwing duck! so good
I have to say as a HUGE batmobile collector, that the original CORGI '66 Batmobile is the best ever. They also produced a pretty comprehensive line of Batmobiles a couple years ago, so in my mind, Mattel is just playing catch-up. But, it will be interesting to see what they do with the 1/18 scale Batmobiles.
The Batman ones are pimpin'.
Ok, don't let me say that ever again. But seriously. Batman.
I'll try to send to Giz a photo of my 1:18 Burtonmobile (Hot Weels edition). I still think it is the best.
Is the Burtonmobile the one that Michael Keaton drove? That gets my vote.
@MadiganLabRat: Mattel will always be playing catch-up. They recycle the budget model molds for higher priced examples. Fail.
Batman would no only devour speedracer but give it a golden shower and Cleveland steamer.
I am down for anything Batman..my fav superhero, meanest looking, and no super powers….superman and spiderman could also use a Cleveland steamer.
I'm pretty sure the third one is secretly a bowflex...
of course im with the batmobile, although speedracer car looks pretty sweet, but i think the movie looks really stupid. TDK im only looking foward to because ledgers joker looks interesting. but i still think the "tumbler" batmobile (if you can even call it a batmobile) looks really bad. i hated it in the last movie, and i hate it now. its nothing but a big tank. thank God we have that new sleeker looking batpod, because if it was just teh tumbler again, i would have probably not seen the movie. i prefer the first batmobile from the tim burton films, that one was kickass and sleek, and NOT A TANK!
