When HD DVD talked about the amazing blue light technology, I am pretty sure this is not what they meant.

If anybody is interested, the forum link that's cited in the article explains more about the Linux operating system it's running. Requires a little bit of linux-hackery to do it though.
Not really a hw hack, but I used to have a programmable LED faced deck that I could program a dozen messages into. I would put vulgar suggestions on it, but since I have no friends nobody ever got to enjoy them but me.

Woah! It has a 2.5 GHz P4 with 1GB of ram. Also an RJ45 port(100mbit ethernet) and runs linux!
Not too shabby for around $60 on eBay.
