Apple's just released a OS X Leopard 10.5.3 update beta to developers, meaning that the patch is at least stable enough for widespread testing. Among the things being fixed are several memory leaks in CoreAnimation and iCal, but the final release won't be available until an estimated April or May. [Apple Insider]

The new point-release is here! The new point-release is here!
The Jerk? Anyone?
@nap70: I don't know why that made me laugh so much. HE HATES MEMORY LEAKS. MORE MEMORY LEAKS, HE'S SHOOTING AT THESE MEMORY LEAKS.
Apple also just backported the wireless drivers from 10.5.2 to 10.4:
[www.apple.com]
Given the wireless problems I had with my Time Capsule and 10.4.11, which vanished when I upgraded to 10.5.2, I'd strongly encourage anyone still on 10.4 to hit this.
@SchruteBuck:
I don't need anything.
Just this stable A2DP.
And better Time Machine filesystem support.
The stable A2DP and better Time Machine filesystem support. That's all I need.
Hopefully they will update it so we can use Time Machine and Filevault together without it being a catastrophe.
@SchruteBuck: I can't even tell you how pleased I am you replied first given that my icon is Prison Mike.
What is it with Apple's inability to increase major version numbers? I'm not a Mac user, but I personally don't feel like paying for .1 of a release.
"Among those components in need of evaluation, people familiar with the matter tell AppleInsider, are AddressBook, AppleScript, Audio, Back To My Mac, Dashboard, the Dock, DVD Player, Finder, Graphics, iCal, Mail, Portable Home Directories, Printing, Rosetta, Spaces, Spotlight, Time Machine, and VoiceOver."
So.. pretty much everything, then. I dunno, my Mac runs pretty well most of the time.
@Matt:
It's a free update there champ.
@nap70: Ha, just noticed that, that's awesome.
@Matt: the .x releases are free updates, just like windows updates. if that was a troll, it sucked.
Hey Apple, does this FIX the problems that the latst Security update BROKE? (namely that no one can re-install 10.5.2).
@Matt: 10.5.x updates are free. 10.x are not.
I think Matt may be referring to the 10.4 to 10.5 transition, instead of there being an 11 or 12 or whatever there should be by now. Frankly, if you're going to look purely at the branding number to decide how different a product it is, then you should simply turn off your computer, till some soil, and live in the fuckin' woods.
How about another Grpahic Update and better support for the 8800 card in the Mac Pro's. Motion only renders 14 fps in realtime... the X2600 does what 12? 13?
You so it's just so worth the extra $200 :P
i hope they fix the sleep and wake-up problems with macbook pro intel 2.2.
