Feast your eyes—squinting a bit—on the leaked two-minute trailer that was briefly seen in YouTube and then pulled off just to be rescued at the last minute by a Polish Corvette, saved into an astromech droid, launched onto a desert planet, and found by us in a garage sale somewhere in Kraków. Or something like that. The trailer further shows the work of the three hundred 3D animators who have been working on this project at Lucasfilm Animation for the past three years. And except for its lousy quality it, it seems that we are in for a ride (here's hoping Mr. Lucas didn't write the dialog.)

That looked incredible, I can't wait.
It looks more like a game trailer rather than a TV show trailer.
Something about the 3D animation just says....
"No."
Polish subtitles.
Lucas is certainly planning a world wide opening.
Certainly a... unique art style. Doesn't really mesh all that well with the universe imo.
Yes! It will probably suck, but I'm getting excited, anyhow!
@DeadWriter: I think that was added later by someone else, not lucas.
visually it seems like a ripoff from the clone wars cartoon. i think this 3D version must show some artistic originality otherwise they'll repeat themselves and hurt the StarWars reputation.
@Moonshadow101: Didn't you see the cel-animated Clone Wars? This is based on that. If it's half as good as that I'm all in.
That said, there was no Wilhelm scream in the trailer, so I'm a little worried.
wow, this is really dumb. animated clone wars was alright, but making it 3D just makes it look like crap.
i'd see this in imax
The trailer on the official website is cooler...
This looks like Star Wars meets Veggietales.
Hoping here's Yoda's mouth open time stupid sounds
I am going to think it will be awesome, only to be let down by the plot/voices/storyline much like EP 1-3
wtf nice, i like all about SW
@aldenf82: I certainly did, and some things should stay 2-d forever.
I have to agree with jbhitter24. It looks like shit in 3D.
Why can't a Hollywood studio for once hire some Japanese animation artists and have something look as slick and awesome as Casshern or the Appleseed remake?
Instead, studios like LucasArts are continually trying to reinvent the wheel, and they come up with something that has corners.
The same suckass movie now in animated form? Awesome. Now I look forward to hours of nausea-inducing entertainment on the telly.
@Moonshadow101: Like Streetfighter.
When are we going to get a flashplayer that can go fullscreen in this place? My eyes are old and tired dammit...
I thought that in the next Stars Wars installment, Luke battles the previous winners of "Project Runway," who wind up locking him up in a fitting room somewhere in Parson's while they compete for the design of a next-generation wash-and-wear Jedi cloak.
Supposedly, a trio of Iron Chefs swoops in at the last minute and cooks something with the secret ingrediant so exquisite but complex, that the Project Runway workroom is overrun with dirty dishes. As a result, the OCD Project Runway champions drop everything to clean up their workroom and bicker, giving Luke just enough time to escape, but not before spending a few precious minutes alone making out with Heidi Klun that cause controversy when it's later revealed that somehow their characters are related.
Anyways, apologies for the spoiler, but hasn't this been widely reported in the Stars Wars press, making me question the validity of the so called "leaked clone wars trailer" in this story...
so, does it pick up where the last clone wars series left off?
because those were some sweet stuff.
Valid: Yea or nay?
@homerjay: I used to bullseye asparagus in my T-16 back home, they're not much bigger than six inches.
HOw DAre YOu SAy SOmething BAd ABout STar WArs!?!? LUcas IS INfallible!! asdhfsfhioefhaif diogig!!! >:(
Ok, the clones and droids looked good, same with any ships or light sabers, but any organic thing looked like crap. Did the animators skip the week they learned how to do hair? It looks like they are mixing the cell shaded version with LEGO Star Wars... I am looking forward to the action sequences, hopefully they can experiment more and try some knew effects out.
i saw this on youtube and i thought it was like a homemade thing from those little snipits from that show from cartoon network (the 5min thing inbetween shows lol)but its actully going to be a movie now so im super pumped but i think they should also make a new movie for inbetween 3 and 4 cuz there is suposedly 20 yrs in between
I'll probably watch it...but I'll be wishing the whole time that it'd been done in a more realistic style of CG, like "Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within" (I know, the story sucked, but the CG was excellent).
That was the most awkward dialogue Yoda has ever uttered. Why are they bringing up Jabba? This looks awful.
If these were cutscenes/gameplay from a video game, I would be very impressed. From a movie? Probably not. Especially since the original star wars movies broke so much ground, cinematically speaking.
Yeah, i've gotta agree with some of the earlier posters. Looks like shit in 3d, the animated Clone Wars was awesome though.
It might be ok, but I have to agree, the animation style is very strange. It reminds me of pixar style animation, which is ok in a pixar style movie. Star Wars though... Not so much.
WTF? When does Jabba have a son?
@daftrok: seconded
I don't get it. The actual star wars movies featured tons of CGI and it all looked amazing / realistic. This looks like your typical 90's Toy Story-esque crappy animation. Why the horrible shift downward?
I prefer Genndy Tartakovsky's work to this craptastic craptacular.
@lafond66: Because this is a trailer for a TV SERIES not a feature length film...
@lafond66: I don't get it. Picasso's early work all looked amazing / realistic. His later work didn't come close. Why the horrible shift downward?
Haha OK so it's not exactly the same situation, but the point is: I think it's a stylistic choice. Besides, when you're financing it all yourself to avoid studio control, I'm not sure you can afford to make every episode of a TV show the CGI spectacular that ROTS was.
I think maybe someone thought that Hayden Christensen's woody acting deserved some Pinocchio style animation.
Sorry Star Wars fans, but I have to say this...
The quality of animation in that trailer could only be described as about on par with "Tripping the Rift"..a show about aliens and sex robots. While I commend the artistic direction LucasFilm are trying to take the franchise..I just can't see this being that huge a success.
When you're releasing any story in 3D these days it is not enough to simply rely on the popularity of the characters to carry it through.
@BloggyMcBlogBlog:
Don't worry, they'll kill him off by the end. Then they'll redo Jedi again to add Jabba screaming 'this is for my son' when he smacks the button to drop luke into the rancor cage.
I really can't believe all the complaining I have been reading on this site. I've been reading Gizmodo for years (way before they let any asshole like me just sign up and comment), and I have never made a comment until now. But after reading how you all bagged on a new installment of a great story, I have to speak up and say....you're all fucking retarded. Seriously. Do you whine and complain about things in your actual lives too? Do you have actual lives? If you answered yes then here's a tip to help improve it...Take the stick out of you butt, relax, and try to enjoy some things for their simple entertainment value.
Animation aside (the hodge of ugly styles is going to please no one), SW needs a strong dose of J. Michael Straczynski, or the guys that ran 'Farscape'.
Lucas needs to do what Paramount has done with Star Trek and bring fresh blood now and again. OTHER producers; OTHER writers; OTHER directors.
Despite what he said in his Family guy 'Blue Harvest' DVD interview, I firmly believe he is too close to his own creation to see the forest for the trees.
@Moonshadow101: Unique, shmunique. That looked like Full Throttle in the desert.
OOOO yesss that was good
drooling....
@BloggyMcBlogBlog: Jabba's big sex scene was edited out of the theatrical release at the last minute, but added back into the director's cut DVD.
When I come to power, Lucas will be the first one taken out and shot for crimes against humanity.
I know it's real but after that IGN Legend of Zelda April Fool's I can't get too excited.
...those bastards.
@iiviip3: Those bastards... they wouldn't happen to be Klingon bastards would they? And if they were, did they kill your boy?
Honestly, this looks good? CG in general looks bd, but this stylized stuff doesn't make any sense. As 2D it would, but seeing real world looking ships and back drops makes the characters look deformed.
Plus in cel animation when you have that kind of stylized design it comes with stylized animation. The animation here looks like your typical stiff "veggie tales" CG animation.
Plus they're going to do rehashing more crap from a time between two poorly conceived/written/acted movies? Bleh, and further more, double bleh.
It's only good in 3D if Pixar did it. This looks rather gay, tired and done to death.!
@Mark 2000: 'Plus they're going to do rehashing more crap from a time between two poorly conceived/written/acted movies? Bleh, and further more, double bleh.'
I didn't realise it was set between Episodes 5 and 6...
George Lucas just bought a big CGI stick with which to flog a very, very, very dead horse.
Because THIS isn't just a joke:
[cdn-www.cracked.com]
I dont like the style they adopted for this tbh.
wait i thought we decided against this. happy days started 'jumped the shark' and star wars prequels started 'raped my childhood.' we're coming back for more? we'll be sorry.
I must ask: what is the purpose of this movie? Didn't they do this already on Cartoon Network? And also, what is the point of another Clone Wars television series too that Lucas has been planning on? I mean, really...
:eyes start to water:
Star Wars is back...
:sniffle:
