I need this. It's a microwave with a built-in toaster, combining two of the three appliances I actually use into a single smorgasbord of food-warming convenience, perfect for my munchkin-sized counter. The other is a George Forman-esque grill—all other electric kitchenwares are frivolous and silly. In fact, if LG could somehow convert the top of this mutant puppy into one, or bolt a steak toaster onto the other side, this would be the most harmonious kitchen appliance ever, the true kitchen in a box. I'm waiting. [core77]

Yesssss, let's just duct tape the foreman on and call it a day.
Where's the fridge? Geez. They were getting lazy.
"FrankenMicroToaster"
And an ironic, self-referential user name is born.
I saw one of these in Sweden that also had two burners on the top of it. - electric range style.
These guys have been around for a while. They made one about a year and a half ago.
Come on Giz, this is really old, like almost 5 years old. LG is not the first to launch this idea.
This would be a disaster @ my place...if I use the toaster and the microwave at the same time, it flips the breaker switch.
I guess I just need to move out...but not so I can get this monster.
Got one of these in my office breakroom. It's confusing and scary.
Been microwaveless for over a year and I've never turned back. My ghetto $10 toaster from Rite Aid works like a champ.
@STIVC@: Simple fix, just pop in a 50A breaker. Done.
Integrating a foreman grill would make cleanup difficult - though they could (hint hint) engineer a different, removable, surface that could be easier to clean.
@STIVC@: Same here, my apt sucks.
I usually just try to not use the microwave.
I have had this microtoasterwave for years. It is awesome. I would buy it again in a second if I had to but, it's still going strong and makes many tasty treats.
@Geisrud: "Simple fix, just pop in a 50A breaker. Done."
If I tried to do that, it wouldn't be the bread that got toasted.
I like it. I wonder why these weren't on sale yet.
I ditched my microwave a year ago too - haven't missed it. I use the oven and the stove to warm up my food. I don't even have a toaster, although I have been thinking about getting a vertical one - the toaster-oven, as much as I adore it, takes up too much space on my counter.
My one question is, why do you need a Foreman Grill? What ever happened to your stove and some cast-iron?
irigaaaak?!?? steak TOASTER? i would rather put my steak in the dishwasher with extra rinse cycle.
We use to have one of these last year, before we moved. Had it for about a year. It was alright, but you couldn't use the toaster and the microwave at the same time. It was an either-or thing. Not that that was really a negative, but there were a few times I wanted to heat up some water while toasting a bagel.
Dudes, I've had this toaster for about 2 yrs now. Not new!
@Marcelo: "My one question is, why do you need a Foreman Grill?"
Because if you don't buy one, he'll come to your house and beat the ever loving shit out of you. I understand he's doing it alphabetically, so you might not have to worry about it for a while.
This isn't all that new!I bought something just like this on Ebay when I moved into my condo in 2005--I'm sure I had seen it on "The Price is Right"... It came and UPS had dropped the box and damaged the unit. I don't think it was this brand but was the same function. This isn't all that new!
I feel torn between my microwave oven and toaster oven... they are both too awesome.
I dont know how I feel about this thing.
Some things just shouldn't leave the drawing board.
wow. i actually got this exact same product about a year ago and it works great. saves a lot of space too.
@OMG! Ponies!: No microwave? Are you from India? What are you thinking, man?!
Agreed. I never use a microwave. In fact, I think the only time it gets used is warming leftovers or cooking up popcorn.
@Spilt_Milk: I was just about to say...I saw one of these LG's in Best Buy 4 years ago when I bought my parents a HUGE Panasonic for xmas. I almost bought the LG, but then I spotted a HUGE 4-slice bagel-ready toaster and got it also.
So yea, nothing new here.
Had this for 5 years now from LG, its a white one. Its great, but i wish it had four toast slots.
This looks like a new version with way more coolness.
Trouble with an appliance like this is that if one feature breaks, the whole thing is a loss.
@alukard:
"This looks like a new version with way more coolness."
You mean its got a refrigerator too?!
you'll never get the blendotoastawave, buchanan. ever.
I bought one of these 3 years ago! This is old news fo' shizzle.
My wife and I got this as a wedding gift last July. It is awesome! A little late on this story Giz...
I've seen these in the stores for at least 2 years. Did they finally make it out to California?
I've seen these for at least 2 years. Did you just now get these in California?
in almost every case where they combine things like this, there are too many compromises. might be good for a dorm room or typical manhattan apartment, but i'll pass.
If they had an adapter for the iPod or Macbook Air I bet you'd see a lot more positive feedback from all these fanboys, and a lot more hits on the article as well.
this is nothing new I've had this toasterwave for 3 years. And I live in CA. the toaster part is only deep enough for bagels so that is weak, and it gets really hot, the fan is loud.
@OMG! Ponies!: I just recently moved, and had not unpacked my microwave. I kept opening up frozen burittos and microwave popcorn, and then standing idiotically in the center of the kitchen looking around for something to put them in.
I consider myself a good cook, and don't use the 'wave for anything but convenience food, but I found myself a little flummoxed on more than one occasion when I couldn't eat exactly 1 minute after I decided I was hungry. On the plus side, I used the toaster oven or full sized oven more, and the food tasted much better.
I felt kind of dirty when I got around to getting the microwave unpacked, and was able to go back to instant gratification.
Because I am completely an instant gratification person when it comes to hunger, I actually went to Target to just buy a new microwave, instead of digging around in all the boxes to find the older one, and came across many models of microwaves that had a heating element integrated into the inside/top that would brown items so they would be a bit crispier. I kind of like that idea.
Well, back to being a horrible consumer whore!
@faabshaam: Yea, we just got it but it contains a chemical known to the state of California to cause cancer.
that is agreat thing, but i love toaster ovens, I need the extra space, so if there was a microwave toaster oven, I would probably buy one
I bought this like 2 years ago from a local Frys. This has been around for ever. Its now in the trash. The toaster burned out after like 6 months. It looks nice, but super crappy...
While I worked at Best Buy I picked up a silver/black microwave/toaster combo, but it's lightyears better than this... It's the Sanyo EM-Z2100GS.
The heating elements are built into the roof of the unit, so it can run various cycles and combinations of radioactive cooking power with wonderful toasting goodness!

I got this microwave/toaster for my dorm a year ago. Awesome product!
I bought one of these two years ago. The toaster is a little under-designed, but if I didn't have one built into the microwave I'd probably still be using the oven to make toast.
It won't let you toast and nuke at the same time. The toaster door is plastic and the slots are just barely big enough for a sliced bagel. (and not deep enough for slices off a round loaf) It runs a fan during toasting which stays on for a minute after the beep, which always catches me thinking its still going.
So yeah, not the best of either world, but a good compromise for the sake of convenience and space for undemanding users.
If they make it install under the upper cabinets and dispense coffee, I would definitely get one.
@Geisrud: I have exactly the same problem, and yes upping the amperage will stop it from tripping but is that safe? Sounds a little like putting a penny in one of the old fuse boxes. Please let me know...
If they can get get these to install under the upper cabinets and dispense coffee I wil so buy one.
@Gary_7vn: It is not safe to put a higher amperage circuit breaker on an old circuit. The breakers put in originally were matched to the capacity of the wiring in the circuit. It's sometimes easy to run a new circuit to lessen the load. If your kitchen breakers are tripping you could put the fridge on a new circuit, run a new circuit for the microwave outlet, or just keep your breakers away from the mushrooms.
ummmm I fail to see how this is news. I've had one of these combo units at my cottage for 3 years now. Bought it at Zellers.
cleaning the mess is a pain
Something incredible just happened. The very second I scrolled to this the song "What A Wonderful World" came on. I'm taking this as a sign.
Will pass on toaster. Waiting for a skin-job.
