iLounge brings up this interesting, and true-sounding, story of iPhone peripheral manufacturers getting pre-briefed on specs for the 3G iPhone before the device is even announced. It makes sense since these companies need the specs to make cases that actually fit, but only need as little detail as possible to do so. Here's what one of these manufacturer says the new one will have: slightly different tapering on the edges, a different speaker/mic hole setup, slightly different sensor arrangement (possibly even a front camera), and a red, white or black color scheme.
It's very interesting, even if one or more of these details could be misinformation given out to different companies to determine which one of them is spilling the beans on Apple's confidential specs. The big difference about the appearance seems to be the ditching of the brushed metal/black plastic look on the back in favor of a more plastic look that approximates metal, like a car, or Iron Man. ok, so I want a copper iPhone with 3g data, minimum 30gb of storage, and full flash support.
kthxbai.
Looks like a really ugly setup the way they drew it O.o. . ..
ummmm.... i dout this is legit
how do they derive what the actual makeup of the body could be from this? The above graphic is poor digital rendering of tapering and mic holes. it's all spit in the clouds at this point. This is almost forcing me to shut down from media on this- just like I don't want to heard 2 words about a movie I plan to see- I miss the days of being surprised- you guys have killed Santa and Stole Christmas!
Why does the new tapering look like somebody traced their own thumb?
So I trace this onto cardboard and cut it out but then what?
There's no assembly instructions...
I want people to stop making demand, whinin, and still not being happy....
mmmmkay
There are so many oddities about the image above. I call fake.
So we still don't know much apart from its similair to the current Iphone.
Call me when it gets everything a modern phone should have like video recording.
@bobdobbs: Because it's all about finger input these days baby!
So who actually made this picture? iLounge? Or is this what Apple gives to the poor shmucks that make cases.
This was on Engadget earlier. Apparently this is a rendering by someone who heard about the story, and not actually any sort of actual communication from Apple. Which doesn't make any of this information false, or discount that Apple has let design partners in on the process. That just means this particular image is not any official communication.
Or whatever. I couldn't be pissed to research it.
and maybe they want us to see there "secret" specifications because they want us to wait for release with burning desire to buy one of those thnigs
not trying to rain on anyones surprise but this could VERY easily be a photoshop job unless of course giz you know you can trust your source.
This looks nothing like anything I've ever seen from apple. I call shennanigans.
Well in a little more than a month we will be done with all of these silly posts!
I love my BudCase
Looking forward to it as much as my Neocube!
The new shape looks too bulky. I'll stick with Edge for now.
Not commenting at all on these images - but I did once see cases for iPod 5Gen on Belkin's site about a week before they were announced.
Obviously the accessory makers have to have some info prior to announcement so that they are ready.
On these images - not enough detail here to pattern anything, so unless this is part of a larger document they are useless.
