MobileCrunch reports that RIM recently snatched up BlackPad.com, a possible name for their forthcoming BlackBerry tablet. The device is anticipated to land in pant-suited laps by the end of the year.

In May BGR heard that RIM's tablet would sport an 8.9" screen and would be marketed strictly as a "companion" device, though little has been confirmed as of yet. Except for the fact that the industry has apparently decided that tablets will henceforth be known only as "pads." [MobileCrunch via SlashGear]
